27 Live Restaurant and Whiskey Lounge Opening
New Evanston restaurant 27 Live hosts a grand opening 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at 1012-14 Church St. in Evanston The modern American menu includes seared walleye, grilled salmon with maple glaze, vegetable pot pie and duck confit in herbed veloute sauce. 

ETHS Plays GBS In Homecoming Game

Alumni and fans are invited to see the Wildkits take on the Titans at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Lazier Field, 2250 Church St. The ETHS marching band and PomKits will play during the halftime show, when the school will also crown a Homecoming King and Queen. Tickets are $2 for students and $3 for adults; admission is free for ETHS Boosters and anyone who donates two items of canned foods.

Fear City Haunted House Opens Friday

Visit the “Bloody Red Carpet Weekend” when the Fear City house opens Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at 8240 Austin Ave. in Morton Grove. “Don’t let the decaying, post-apocalyptic streets of Fear City fool you, this hidden treasure is autumn’s must-see vacation destination,” Patch’s Stan Golovchuk wrote of his visit.

Free Screen of The Pirates! at the Library

The Evanston Public Library screens two free showings of The Pirates! at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1703 Orrington Ave. In this animated children’s film, a pirate captain leads his crew in an effort to beat his rivals and win “Pirate of the Year.”

Patti Lupone, Mandy Patinkin Sing in Over the Rainbow Benefit

Broadway stars and Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin reunite for a concert to benefit the Over the Rainbow Association, a nonprofit that helps provide housing for people with disabilities. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, 50 Arts Circle Drive in Evanston. Tickets start at $100.

Jamie O’Reilly Trio Plays at The Musical Offering

Vocalist Jamie O’Reilly plays alongside guitarists Michael Smith and Peter Swenson on song-settings of poems arranged in chamber-folk style at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at The Musical Offering, 743 Custer Ave. Tickets are $15.
