Shop On Central Street to Benefit Local Organizations
10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Central Street, Evanston
Saturday is a great day to go shopping—especially this Saturday, when you might want to make a trip to Central Street. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., participating businesses will donate 10 to 15 percent of sales to several local organizations. Those include Boys Hope Girls Hope, C.A.R.E. For the Evanston Animal Shelter, Center for Independent Futures, The Cradle Foundation, Evanston Connections for the Homeless, Evanston Public Library Friends, Mitchell Museum of the American Indian, SHORE Community Services, Women’s Club of Evanston and Y.O.U. Evanston.

Carve a Pumpkin at Whole Foods South
12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Whole Foods Market Evanston South, 1111 Chicago Ave., Evanston
Buy a pumpkin at the register, then come to the café to carve it using kits provided by Whole Foods Market. 

Hear Midwest Young Artists Youth Jazz Combos at World of Beer
6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at World of Beer, 1601 Sherman Ave.
Hear a jazz combo concert by the students at Midwest Young Artists.

Celebrate Franz Liszt’s 202nd Birthday
7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave. in Evanston; $10 general admission
The American Liszt Society of Chicago commemorates the composer’s 202nd birthday with an evening of performances by artists such as Claire Aebersold and Ralph Neiweem, Svetlana Belsky, Alexander Djordjevic, Andrew Guo, Matthew Hagle, Brenda Huang, Sung Hoon Mo, George Radosavljevic and Paul Sanchez.

Might I also recommend some Sunday events? etc. Music School will be hosting two on Oct. 27th: 1. FREE Community Halloween Party, 12-2 P.M., 927 Noyes St., Suite 213 (Noyes Cultural Center): A costume contest, games, candy bags, performances by private students and a special Halloween-themed set by the Evanston Teen Choir! 2. etc.'s first SONG JAM: Open to all singers, instrumentalists, composers and music-lovers of all genres aged grades 8-12 - come and perform in an open mic format with free professional piano accompaniment provided or just come to hang out, listen and meet other young artists! Admission is $5.00 - to pay for the pizza and snacks we'll share!

If you are looking for more Midwest Young Artists Jazz, come to our 6:30pm show on Sunday at Evanston's Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. The concert also features MYA's top symphony orchestra. Highlights include a Joe Clark big band arrangement, and the entirety of Strauss's Don Quixote, complete with live action narration! This is a stellar show. You can also bring furry friends to our Whole Paws pet party at Whole Foods Market in Downtown Evanston! From 1-4pm, we'll be up in the "barking" lot with treats for pets and humans, too.
