Hispanic Heritage Month Kicks Off Sunday With Salsa, Live Music

This film follows the “Four Horsemen,” magicians who apparently rob a bank during a sold out Las Vegas show. 

Beer Class at The Wine Goddess
8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Wine Goddess, 702 Main St.
Learn about Pilsners, IPAs, Porters and more at this led by beer expert Scott Mickow. He will also talk about beer and food pairings. $50; register online. 

Fear City Blackout Party
8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Fear City, 8240 Austin Ave. in Morton Grove
Get a sneak preview of the Fear City haunted house—with one flashlight for you and your friends. After you’ve been scared silly, enjoy the “After Dark Zombie Dance Party,” with foods, drinks and music. $13; buy tickets online

Free College Prep Advice For Juniors
10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Evanston Public Library main branch, 1703 Orrington Ave.
This free session offered in partnership with the ETHS College and Career Center offers advice for juniors on apply early action, getting organized and writing college essays. Free, but registration is required.

Pop-Up Food Truck Trailer Park
2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Whole Foods Market Evanston South, 1111 Chicago Ave.
Enjoy food trucks, beer and wine samples and family activities at this pop-up event in the Whole Foods parking lot. Proceeds help support the Whole Kids Foundation.

Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff
12-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St.
Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15) kicks off with live music and a salsa dance contest with cash prizes. Performers include Nueva Generacion, Hermanos Salcedo, Ballet Folklorico and Arnulfo Cardenas.
