The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department, formally known as the Parks/Forestry and Recreation Department, works with numerous programs and facilities throughout the city. It runs summer camps and classes, farmers markets, public concerts and movies, and senior programs, just to name a few. The Department aims to make Evanston a more "green" community, and is working to educate residents by raising awareness and hosting workshops on ways to reduce the city's carbon footprint. The Department director is Doug Gaynor.
