One of eight major schools of study at Northwestern University, the Medill School of Journalism was founded in 1921. Named for Joseph Medill, the owner and editor of the Chicago Tribune, NU's journalism students have always been made to adhere to strict standards. Many students still live in fear of the "Medill F," a score of zero given to any academic work that has even the most minor factual error.

Medill has an excellent reputation for placing their journalism grads, with many well-trained former students working beats in newsrooms around the world.
