Students at Highcrest Middle School in Wilmette have broken the Guinness World Record for Most Twins in a Single Grade.
Highcrest Middle School is seeing double. The Wilmette school announced this week that it had broken the Guiness World Record for Most Twins in a Single Grade, with 23 sets of twins. Approximately 10 percent of the 5th grade class can claim the record as a twin. The previous record was 16 sets of twins. Luke and Ryan Novosel, dedicated readers of the Guinness Book, discovered that they could break the record when reading the book one night. "The boys were reading one Sunday night and started discussing the many sets of twins right in our neighborhood," Mike Novosel, Luke and Ryan's dad, said. Skokie Teen Charged in Shooting Near Old Orchard Mall Criminal charges have been filed against Rayshawn Taylor, 17 , of the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue in Evanston, in connection with a shooting that took place outside Old Orchard Mall near the intersection of Golf Road and Skokie Boulevard. Taylor is charged with one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. Taylor shot a juvenile with a semiautomatic pistol on May 17 around 9:45 p.m., police said. When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a male subject lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He is currently in stable condition. School officials pulled Evanston Township High School's baseball team from the regional playoffs at ETHs, amid allegations members of the team were sending indecent photos of high school girls via text message.
On the eve of regional playoffs at Evanston Township High School, the athletic director told parents in a letter that the baseball team would forfeit the season, following allegations that players were sending indecent photographs via text message. The Wildkits were set to play Taft High School in the first round of regional playoffs Friday at ETHS, but the season is now over for good. Taft will instead play St. Pat's in the championship game Saturday, May 25, at ETHS, which is hosting the playoffs.
