You've GOT To Be Kidding
Luckily, this sign is in a parking lot that isn't in use ... or is it?
I recently walked past the parking lot adjacent to the now shuttered Blockbuster Video at 1211 Chicago Avenue. I noticed snow piled up to and around the handicapped parking sign; even though the lot isn't being used, the scene just struck me as "wrong" -- kind of like a mustache drawn on a missing person's poster, or a person who hits your brand new Prius in the St. Mary's church parking lot and doesn't leave a note (this actually happened to my friends Sue and Farhad. You know who you are. I suspect God does, too). The empty Blockbuster lot, though, isn't without activity these days. Scratch that about Salvation Army moving to the former Blockbuster site. I just got word from the city (Thanks, Wally!) that there are no plans for it.   more ›
