Open House for New Evanston Fire Explorers
Young peoples ages 14-20 can sign up for the program that gives them a birds eye view of what it takes to be a firefighter; hands on activities and classroom lectures are included.
A brand new program has been formed for Evanston youth ages 14-20, who are interested in learning about firefighting and emergency services. The new Explorer Program, sponsored by Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services, will be showcased in an open house a week from today on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Participants in the program will meet twice a week, and practice real-life circumstances faced by firefighters and emergency personnel through mock situations and classroom lecture. The program is co-ed, an will include proper protocol for emergency call, firefighter equipment usage, policies and procedures and team building.
