From Furniture to Waitstaff, It’s ‘Purposeful’ at Found

Chicago restaurateur Amy Morton returns to the restaurant scene after a 10-year hiatus with a new spot opening this fall at 1631 Chicago Ave. in Evanston, the former location of Gio.

Earlier this summer, a giant quote from Rudyard Kipling appeared on a boarded-up storefront in downtown Evanston.  “I’ve taken my fun where I’ve found it,” read the sign’s scrawled white letters.  The spray-painted saying was the work of Amy Morton, a longtime Chicago restaurateur and Evanston resident who is opening the restaurant Found at 1631 Chicago Ave. this fall.  Want to stay up to date on the latest restaurant news in Evanston? Pick Your Perfect Pizza Pie

Evanston dishes up plenty of choices.

Looks like Chicago Avenue deserves a new nickname: Pizza Row. As a pizza aficionado, I’m thrilled to know we’ve got so many pizza places to choose from. My hands down favorite is Union Pizzeria for its fresh, creative toppings – not to mention the fact that I don’t hate myself after eating the light, wood-fired crust -- but when I feel like changing it up a little, the pizza choices in Evanston are too plentiful to detail in one article. On Chicago Avenue between Church Greenleaf, you’ll find Dave’s Italian Kitchen, Gio, Giordano’s, Homemade Pizza Company, Union Pizzeria and the relocated Carmen’s (coming soon). I always forget that Dave's has pizza! I've been meaning to try it, but every time I go I get distracted by their delicious pasta dishes. I think I'll have to order some this week and finally see what the hype is all about -- do you recommend their pan over the thin crust, or are they equally good?   more ›
