Fine Defeats Frank in 17th IL House District Race

Fine took nearly two out of every three votes.

FINAL UPDATE AT 11:22 p.m.: Laura Fine (D-Glenview) has defeated Kyle Frank (R-Skokie) to take the Illinois’ 17th district legislative seat. With 85 of 86 precincts reporting, Fine has 65.5 percent of the vote. “I’m just thrilled," Fine said. "We just worked so hard. I started knocking on doors last November and talking to people and finding out what their different issues and concerns were. All that hard work and staying positive in our campaign paid off. I was in many of the precincts today, and I can’t tell you how many people I bumped into that I remember when we talked at my door. Legislative Hopefuls Talk Jobs, Taxes, Corruption at Evanston Forum

17th District Illinois House candidates Laura Fine and Kyle Frank, 18th District Illinois House candidates Robyn Gabel and Eric Lieberman, and 9th District Illinois Senate candidate Glenn Farkas spoke in Evanston.

At a forum in Evanston last night, Illinois legislative candidates sparred over how to create jobs and reduce corruption, but agreed on one thing: that the state needs a massive budget overhaul.  Hosted by the Central Street Neighbors Association at Haven Middle School, the forum included State Rep. Robyn Gabel (D-Evanston) and her 18th District Republican challenger, Eric Lieberman, as well as 17th district house candidates Laura Fine (D-Glenview) and Kyle Frank (R-Skokie.) Tribune Endorses Fine Over Frank in 17th District House Race

The Chicago Tribune editorial board described both candidates as "good," but endorsed Laura Fine (D-Glenview) for the 17th District House seat.

While the Chicago Tribune editorial board writes that Laura Fine and Kyle Frank are "both good candidates," for the 17th District House seat, the board chose Fine over Frank for endorsement. Both candidates are newcomers in the race for the position currently occupied by Daniel Biss (D-Evanston), who is running for Illinois Senate in the ninth district. 17th, 18th District House Candidates Debate Thursday in Evanston

18th District House candidates Robyn Gabel and Eric Lieberman, 17th District House candidates Laura Fine and Kyle Frank and 9th District Senate candidate Glenn Farkas will appear in Evanston.

Candidates for the 18th and 17th district house races and the 9th district senate race will appear at a moderated forum in Evanston Thursday. 18th District incumbent Rep.
