District 65: Schools 'On Alert' After Newtown, CT, Shooting
Following a mass shooting in a Connecticut elementary school that left 27 dead, as well as three recent shootings in Evanston, District 65 Superintendent Hardy Murphy said local schools are 'on alert.'
In a letter to families, District 65 Supt. Hardy Murphy said that he had placed local schools "on alert" following a horrific mass shooting that left 27 dead at a Connecticut elementary school, as well as two recent fatal shootings in Evanston. Murphy also said that he had requested "a more visible presence" from local police, and that the district's security company would be checking buildings for safety over the coming weeks.
