Hair Salon Bandit Strikes Again, Robs at Gunpoint

Skokie has seen two armed robberies targeting hair salons over the last two weeks. Police believe the same man is responsible for about a dozen similar crimes that took place in Niles, Morton Grove and several other areas.

Two Skokie hair salons have been robbed at gunpoint in two weeks, and police believe one man is responsible for both crimes, they announced today. Officers responded to an armed robbery call at Supercuts, 3539 Dempster St., on Jan. 10 around 12:25 p.m. The suspect entered the hair salon, displayed a black revolver and demanded money, police said. The offender would soon flee in an unknown direction. It is unclear at this time how much money the man stole and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Police said the most recent hair salon employee identified the armed robber as the same man who held up Hair Cuttery in Fashion Square Shopping Mall, 9442 Skokie Blvd., on Dec. 27 (pictured above). Rash of Pizza Delivery Robberies Appear Unrelated, Police Say

Evanston police are searching for suspects in three recent incidents where robbers called for a pizza delivery, then stole cash and other valuables from the driver.

Police say they have a lead on a suspect in one of three separate incidents where robbers stole cash and pizzas from delivery drivers in Evanston during the past two weeks. Two men demanded a driver’s money, then stole his cash and a large pizza in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue on Nov. 4, according to police. On Monday, Nov. 12, two men wearing masks and all black clothing displayed a handgun, then stole cash, a cell phone and pizza from a J.B. Alberto’s delivery driver in the 700 block of Dodge Avenue. Teens Arrested in Halloween Egg Robbery, Police Say

Evanston police say they caught three teenagers who stole eggs from a Walgreens on Green Bay Road on Halloween. One was charged with robbery.

Evanston police say they caught three teenagers and arrested one who stole eggs from the Walgreens store at 2100 Green Bay Road on Halloween. A store manager called 911 to report that several male teenagers had stolen cartons of eggs at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. When he attempted to stop them, one of the teenagers hit him in the face, causing minor injuries, according to police. The group then ran away. Police obtained a description of the teenagers and broadcast it to officers on patrol. Two hours later, a pair of officers saw three suspects who matched the description in the 1900 block of Darrow Avenue, according to police.  Police stopped the three suspects, all of whom are 17-year-old residents of Evanston, and later identified …
