Homicide Investigations Stall Without Cooperating Witnesses

Evanston police continue to investigate the recent shooting deaths of Justin Murray, 19, and Javar Bamberg, 23. A lack of cooperating witnesses has stymied the investigation, police say.

Police say a lack of cooperating witnesses has stymied their investigation into the recent shooting deaths of two young Evanston men.  Detectives have identified possible suspects in the homicides of Justin Murray, 19, on Nov. 29, and Javar Bamberg, 23, on Dec. 12, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. A judge sentenced Hill to 18 years in prison on charges of first-degree murder in October 2006; he was released on parole this September.  “Police believe that may have been the start of the violent back-and-forth issues between these two factions,” said Police Cmdr.
