UPDATE: Skokie Woman Found in Canal Pronounced Dead
A 24-year-old woman was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston after a pedestrian saw her body in a canal near Main Street and McCormick Boulevard this morning. She was pronounced dead Saturday evening.
Update - 11/19, 9:28 a.m. - The woman has been identified as Andia Ymeraj, of Skokie, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy is scheduled for later this weekend. Update 11/17, 7:54 p.m. - Both the Evanston and Skokie Fire departments responded to the canal at Main Street and McCormick Boulevard regarding a report of a female who had jumped into the canal on Saturday around 10 a.m. The departments conducted joint operations, and with the help of a reliable eye witness were able to determine the exact location where she went under.
