Evanston Police Arrest Chicago Man With Cannabis, Handgun and $5,000

Evanston police executed a search warrant in Rogers Park and arrested a Chicago man who they say was dealing drugs illegally in Evanston.

Evanston police arrested a Chicago man on charges of dealing marijuana after they searched his Rogers Park home and found 215 grams of cannabis, a .38 caliber handgun and more than $5,000 in cash. Police say they obtained a search warrant for Marwan Rahim, his vehicle and his home, in the 2900 block of West Pratt Boulevard as part of their investigation of illegal drug sales in Evanston, Skokie and Rogers Park. Officers from the Evanston Police Department’s Special Operations Group arrested Rahim, who is 26, and charged him with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis, both felony counts. He is also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of a firearm without a valid firearm …

Evanston Police Charge Skokie Man With Selling Drugs

As part of their investigation of illegal drug sales in Evanston and Skokie, police executed a search warrant on a Skokie home and arrested a 22-year-old man after they found 65 grams of cannabis.

Evanston police charged a Skokie man with dealing marijuana illegally after they searched his home and found 65 grams of cannabis Monday morning.  Police executed the search warrant at 6:50 a.m. Nov. 26, in the 4800 block of West Greenleaf Avenue, as part of their investigation of illegal drug sales in Evanston and Skokie, according to a press release from the Evanston police department. Following the search, police arrested Donte D. Kennedy, 22, of the 4800 block of West Greenleaf Avenue, and charged him with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, both felonies, according to the release.  Kennedy is scheduled to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.

Police Charge Two After Narcotics Search on Custer

Police charged two men with drug and weapons-related offenses after executing a search warrant for narcotics in Evanston. Officers found a handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana.

Evanston police charged two men with drugs and weapons-related offenses after they searched a house on Custer Street and found a handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana, police said.  The Evanston Police Department’s Special Operations Group executed a search warrant for narcotics in the first floor apartment at 135 Custer St. at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. Following the search, officers arrested two local men, according to a press release from the police department. Authorities charged Autae L. Williams, 31, of the 300 block of Custer Street, with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, all …

Dan, I double-checked the press release and police did say that the two FOID violations were indeed class A misdemeanors, not felonies. I will check with the courts on Monday.   more ›

Police Investigate Link Card Fraud at Evanston Stores

Evanston Police executed a search warrant Thursday on two businesses at Church Street and Dodge Avenue.

Evanston police executed a search warrant on two west side businesses Thursday as part of an on-going investigation involving Link card fraud, officials said. Agents from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Secret Service assisted Evanston police officers in investigating and searching A.J. Mini Mart, 1901 Church St., and A.J. Wireless, located at 1700 Dodge Ave. Both businesses are located near the northwest corner of the intersection of Church Street and Dodge Avenue. Police reported they recovered “records and numerous items of electronics from the search warrant locations,” and said that the stores may have been accepting stolen electronic devices in exchange for cash. Evanston Police Drug Search Warrant Recovers 443.3 grams of Cannabis

From the EPD: As a direct outgrowth of ongoing narcotics investigations occurring in Evanston, the Evanston Police Departments’ Neighborhood Enforcement Team (N.E.T.) and the Skokie Police Departments’ Canine Unit executed a search warrant on 10-24-11, at 1:09 p.m. The target of this search warrant residing at 7464 N. Damen #1 Chicago, Illinois. Evanston narcotics’ Investigators arrived at the target location, setting up an exterior perimeter. Officers announced their presence to possible interior occupants, but received no response. Officers then forced entry to the target location, finding it unoccupied.
