Reduce, Reuse And Work Those Dresses On The Runway

Models show off designs made of materials diverted from the landfill in an effort to showcase environmental awareness.

Nearly 450 people turned out for the fifth annual Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook Cook County (SWANCC) Trashy Fashion Show, held at the Skokie Holiday Inn, 5300 W. Touhy Ave, Thursday night. Forty-two designers decked out models in outfits made of 90 percent recycled materials such as plastic bags, pillow shams, newspapers, chip bags and packaging materials. The goal was to use creativity to show the importance of recycling and reusing.
