Man Punches Northwestern Student In Attempted Robbery

Police are searching for a man who demanded that a Northwestern student “let it go,” then punched him in the face in an attempted robbery near Elgin Road and Orrington Avenue.

Police are searching for a man who punched a Northwestern student and demanded that he “give it up” in an attempted robbery on campus early Tuesday morning. The student was walking northbound on the sidewalk between the Music Administration Building and the Rebecca Crown Center at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, when a man approached him from behind, according to University Police.  The man grabbed the student’s coat and pants pockets, saying “let it go” and “give it up.” Then he punched the student in the face.  Police say the student fought with the offender, who eventually ran away. The student suffered minor injuries, but declined to go to the hospital. He told police that the man did not display any weapons, and did not take anything from…

Robbers Push Woman Down, Steal Purse

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department: Robbers Push Woman Down, Steal Purse Two men pushed a woman to the ground, then grabbed her Marc Jacobs canvas purse during a strongarm robbery at 7:34 p.m. in the 600 block of Judson Avenue, according to police. The robbers also stole her Apple cell phone and Kindle, police said. Burglar Steals Jewelry, Camera, Rum On Emerson A burglar entered an unlocked home in the 1800 block of Emerson Street between 7:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, according to police. Rash of Pizza Delivery Robberies Appear Unrelated, Police Say

Evanston police are searching for suspects in three recent incidents where robbers called for a pizza delivery, then stole cash and other valuables from the driver.

Police say they have a lead on a suspect in one of three separate incidents where robbers stole cash and pizzas from delivery drivers in Evanston during the past two weeks. Two men demanded a driver’s money, then stole his cash and a large pizza in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue on Nov. 4, according to police. On Monday, Nov. 12, two men wearing masks and all black clothing displayed a handgun, then stole cash, a cell phone and pizza from a J.B. Alberto’s delivery driver in the 700 block of Dodge Avenue. And on Tuesday, Nov. 13, three masked men threatened a Sarpino’s delivery driver in the 800 block of Case Street, saying they had a gun and a knife, then stole his cash, wallet, cell phone, keys, and the two pepperoni pizzas he was …

Police: Robber Knocked Victim to the Ground, Stole Wallet

UPDATED: Evanston Police say three men stole a wallet and phone in a strongarm robbery at Asbury Avenue and Church Street early Sunday morning.

Three men knocked a 48-year-old Skokie man to the ground and stole his wallet in a strongarm robbery at Asbury Avenue and Church Street this weekend, according to Evanston Police. The offenders stole cash, a tri-fold fake leather wallet, Kia flip phone, government-issued cell phone and various keys during the incident, which took place at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, according to police. The incident was reported to police several hours later, at the station. Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the robbery.  Editor's Note: This story was updated to include more information about the victim at 9:26 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9.
