Lucky Local Evanston’s Shell Foods, 2494 Oakton St., recently sold a winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket for the March 4 drawing, making someone in the area $100,000 richer. On Feb. 6, a salesman from Streamwood won $1 million after purchasing a Powerball ticket at the Lake Villa Citgo at 400 E. Grand Ave., reported the Lake County News-Sun. Wednesday’s jackpot could go up even higher, lottery officials said.
Jozefa S. is an Illinois State Lottery winner with a bit of advice on playing the lottery: “You can’t win if you don’t play, so go ahead and play.” A lot of people will be plunking down $2 for a Powerball ticket in one of the lottery’s biggest jackpots of the year. The jackpot is now $500 million and may grow larger before the drawing at the end of the day Wednesday, lottery officials said. “When (the jackpot) is this large, it’s not unusual for the jackpot to go up. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets pumped up again,” said Chanele Newton, a Northstar Lottery Group spokesman. Northstar runs the Illinois State Lottery.
