How to Register to Vote in April 9 Evanston Election

The League of Women Voters will be registering Evanston residents on Saturday, March 9, at the Evanston Public Library. Residents can also register online, via mail or in person at several locations.

Local elections for city council, school board and Evanston township are coming up April 9, but its not too late to register to vote. The League of Women Voters will be holding a voter registration drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at the Evanston Public Library.  Residents who are U.S. citizens and will be 18 years old by April 9, 2013, are eligible to register, and should bring two forms of identification, according to the city website. Both must have a name, and at least one must have an address.  Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, an Illinois state ID, a student ID, a work ID, a utility bill with name and address on it or a passport. Didn't Register To Vote? You Might Squeeze In

Suburban Cook County voters have a grace period until Nov. 3, but they have to vote on-the-spot and follow these rules.

If you missed the voter registration last Tuesday for suburban Cook County voters, you're not out of luck.  Grace period registration and voting is now available for eligible Illinois voters who missed the registration deadline but still want to vote in the Nov. 6, 2012 Presidential Election. "Procrastinators can still participate during the grace period if you need to register to vote for the first time, change your name or update your address," said Cook County Clerk David Orr in a statement.  The grace period is available until Nov. 3. If you register during the grace period, you must vote at the time of registration.
