Police Arrest Woman With Loaded Gun During Traffic Stop

Evanston police charged a woman with unlawful use of a weapon after they discovered she had a loaded .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun in her purse.

A local woman faces felony charges after police discovered a loaded gun in her purse during a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Green Bay Road at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, according to police. Dorothy L. Adams, 42, of the 1800 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston, is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a felony, and two misdemeanor charges for possession of a firearm and possession of firearm ammunition without a valid firearm owner's ID. Police say they found the gun and 31 rounds of ammunition while the vehicle was stopped. Adams is set to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, according to police.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department: Two Arrested For Battery Jesus N. Police Arrest Man With Pistol Under His Car Seat

Evanston police charged a 22-year-old Evanston man with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Tuesday, Oct. 2 after they pulled him over in a traffic stop and found a gun under his seat.

Police arrested an Evanston man after they pulled him over for a traffic stop and said they found a loaded handgun under his seat. Brian Boynton, 22, of the 1300 block of Fowler Avenue, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to a press release from the police department. Plainclothes officers in the city's Special Operations Group stopped Boynton's car in the 2400 block of Greenwood Avenue, according the release. They found a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol under his seat. Boynton is also charged with a minor traffic violation, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Police Arrest Suspected Gang Member With Stolen Gun

Evanston police arrested a 28-year-old man for unlawful use of a weapon during a routine traffic stop.

A routine traffic stop in Evanston Friday lead to the arrest of a suspected gang member on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of stolen property, police reported. Officers arrested two men from Evanston after they stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation at Simpson Street and Crawford Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, according to a press release from the police department.  Officers decided to search the car and its occupants after they noticed the smell of cannabis and observed one of the four passengers making "furtive movements" in the backseat, according to the release. Man Arrested With Gun at 7-Eleven On Dodge

Police arrested a 27-year-old Evanston man and charged him with unlawful use of a weapon.

Police arrested an Evanston man at the 7-Eleven on Dodge Avenue after they allegedly found him sitting in the parking lot with a loaded handgun. Sean D. Rattray, 27, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a class four felony, according to a press release from Police Cmdr. Perry Polinski.  Police were called to the scene when someone telephoned 9-1-1 to report that there was a man in the parking lot with a gun, according to Polinski. Officers recovered a .38 caliber handgun, he added. Rattray is scheduled to appear in Cook County Circuit Court on July 13.

Police Charge Suspect From Friday's Manhunt

Evanston police charged a 21-year-old Chicago man with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon after he led police on a chase through backyards on Judson Avenue Friday. Antoine D. Sanders, of the 7015 block of Paulina Avenue, was one of two suspects police arrested Friday afternoon, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott. They drove into Evanston on Sheridan Road shortly before 11 a.m. Friday after an incident involving shots fired near Gale Elementary School at Jonquil Terrace and Marshfield Avenue in Chicago. No one was injured when the gun went off, according to Parrott. Evanston Man Arrested With Gun On Darrow

Police arrested a man on charges of unlawful use of a weapon after they were called to investigate a disturbance on Darrow Avenue.

An Evanston man was arrested with a loaded 9mm handgun Thursday night when police were called to a disturbance on Darrow Avenue. Police were investigating the scene of the disturbance around 7:30 p.m. when they observed a man with a gun, according to a release from Evanston Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott. They arrested Andre R. Seals, 30, of 1914 Darrow Ave., on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, a felony offense.  An officer on patrol saw a large crowd at Emerson and Darrow and stopped to investigate, according to the Evanston Review, when someone yelled, "he's taking out a gun." Police chased two suspects into a home on Darrow before arresting Seals. The other suspect was released without charges, the Review reported.
