The Center for Genetic Medicine (CGM) was founded in 2000 to facilitate the development of new genetic knowledge and its application to medicine, while improving public understanding of genetics. Today, this collaboration across Northwestern University, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago includes more than 140 faculty members from 33 departments and three schools.

Researchers who belong to the center work to improve our understanding of fundamental genetic mechanisms and the genetic basis of human disease. We support their work through our state-of-the-art core facilities, formal academic programs, and public education.
