La Macchina Cafe is coming soon to downtown Evanston.
Construction on the restaurant and cafe is now underway at 1620 Orrington Ave. Business partners Chris Casas and Marco Ferrarini, both Evanston residents, are also opening a coffee roaster called Coffee Speed Shop in west Evanston, which will be affiliated with the cafe.
“I’ve always wanted to roast,” Casas told Patch earlier this year. He previously owned two cafes in Evanston that have since closed, including The Italian Coffee Bar, at 1549 Sherman Ave. That cafe closed in 2010 and was replaced by The Other Brother Coffee House.
La Macchina will serve wine, shared plates and weekend brunch, as well as locally roasted coffee.
