Pure Barre Now Open In Downtown Evanston

The fitness center offering ballet-inspired exercises opened Aug. 22 at Church Street and Maple Avenue.

Pure Barre, a ballet-inspired fitness center, is now taking clients in downtown Evanston.

The Evanston franchise of the nationwide chain opened Aug. 22 at 910 Church St., according to an employee.

Former lawyer and professional dancer Carrie Dorr founded the company in Birmingham, MI, in 2001, and now oversees its more than 78 locations in 26 states. Participants in fitness program learn how to perform small, isometric movements at a ballet barre in order to tone and strengthen their muscles.

Classes are offered at the Evanston location as early as 5:30 a.m. and as late as 8 a.m. on weekdays, and workouts are also conducted on Saturdays and Sundays.  To see a class schedule and sign up, visit the store’s website.
