Celebrate Grand Opening of Hevanston Gallery with Mayor Tisdahl at Ribbon Cutting

Grand Opening Celebration with Mayor Tisdahl at Ribbon Cutting for Hevanston Gallery on Friday, December 14th from 5:00pm – 8pm

Join Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl along with the Downtown Evanston Board of Directors, the Evanston Chamber of Commerce and staff in celebrating the opening of downtown Evanston’s newest art gallery: Hevanston Gallery.  A grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration will take place on Friday, December 14th at 529 Davis Street. The general public is invited to stop by to shop, meet some of the local artists and enjoy food and drink.

The new gallery is filled with a variety of original work, ranging from sculpture and stained glass to photography and oil painting. In addition, the gallery sells archival quality historic posters, handmade clocks, and mosaic tables. The majority of the items are created by Chicago and Evanston-based artists.

Hevanston Gallery was established by Steve Bialer, a longtime Evanston resident, who is also an artist. “I was an art director for 25 years and was able to meet and work with many fantastic artists over the years. I wanted to provide a comfortable space for people to be able to find some of this great local artwork and I wanted to reproduce some historic photos and posters that have not previously been available to the public. Plus, I wanted to produce some of my own ideas,” said Bialer. In the gallery, you’ll find his colorful mosaic tables plus classical still life oil paintings and modern photography.

Sueko Kawamura a long-time sculptor in the Evanston and Chicago area who has exhibited her work at several River North galleries, has a retrospective of her work in the Gallery. Soweko combines her Japanese background with her Chicago Art Institute training.
