Announces Special
Evanston 150 Concert



 Evanston, IL
— The Evanston Symphony Orchestra will open its 68th season – titled Celebrate Evanston! in honor of the 150th
anniversary of the founding of Evanston- with a special Evanston 150 concert at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall in Evanston conducted
by Music Director Lawrence Eckerling . The concert date is Sunday November 10,
2013 at 2:30 PM.

 The program
features the world premiere of Evanston
Fanfare
, composed for the ESO brass section by Mark Gresham. The Evanston
focus continues with Kyle and Ryan Jannak-Huang, students at Evanston based
Music Institute of Chicago, taking the duo-piano solos, and Toni-Marie
Montgomery, Dean of the Bienen School of Music of Northwestern University, serving
as the narrator, in Saint-Saëns’ Carnival
of the Animals

 The remainder
of the concert will highlight the virtuosity of members of the ESO, all of whom
donate their services. Many members of the orchestra will play prominent solos
in Ravel’s Bolero, Offenbach’s
Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld,
and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an
Exhibition
as orchestrated by Ravel.

 Two of the
other three concerts of the Celebrate Evanston! season will feature Evanston
artists. Evanston born Sang Mee Lee, chairman of the Strings Department at the Music
Institute of Chicago, will play the solo in Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 on
May 4, and Evanston’s North Shore Choral Society will join the ESO for Verdi’s
monumental Requiem, which will end the season on June 15.

 Season
subscriptions for the four concerts are now available at $96 for adults, $80
for seniors (62 and over), $20 for full-time students and FREE for children 12
and under when accompanied by an adult. Order forms and additional information are
available on-line at www.evanstonsymphony.org or by calling 847.864.8804.
On-line sales for single tickets will begin on August 1, 2013. Children’s
tickets are only available by calling 847.864.8804.

 Founded in
1945, the Evanston Symphony was the Illinois Council of Orchestra’s “Orchestra
of the Year” in 2010.  The ESO mission is
to provide community members of all ages with convenient, affordable
opportunities to perform and hear fine classical music from locally, nationally
and internationally renowned artists.
