The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department.

Burglar Caught Trying to Open Window

A resident of the 800 block of Dobson Street caught a burglar trying to open his window between 10:55 and 11:10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, according to police.

Arrests: Retail Theft, Assault

Lara N. Pira, 27, of the 8500 block of Skokie in Skokie, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she stole clothing from a department store in the 2400 block of Main Street at 6:04 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, police reported.

David P. Walker, 52, was arrested and charged with assault at 9:04 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, in the 2600 block of Ridge, according to police.

Burglar Steals Car Stereo

Someone broke the rear window and stole a Aiwa in-dash AM/FM radio and CD player from a 1996 Toyota parked in the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue between 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, and 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, police reported.

Thief Takes Wallet at Medical Office

Someone stole a brown bi-fold wallet with its contents from a purse at a medical office in the 600 block of Church Street at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, according to police.

Bike Stolen On Seward

Someone stole a kelly green girls Schwinn bicycle with a storage rack that was locked up in an apartment or condo common area in the 900 block of Seward Street between Oct. 3 and Oct. 7, police reported.

Gardening Tools Stolen On Hinman

Someone stole green gardening poles from the side of a home in the 700 block of Hinman Avenue between 3 and 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, according to police.

Retail Theft: Cell Phone, Human Hair Extensions

Someone stole a Samsung demonstration cell phone from a store in the 2300 block of Howard Street between 1 and 3:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, according to police.

A woman stole outré blonde human hair extensions and cosmetics from a department store in the 800 block of Dodge Avenue at 11:26 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, according to police.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

A 2013 Kia was scratched in the 900 block of Judson Avenue between 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, and 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, according to police.

A man damaged the tire of a 2007 Jeep parked in the 1700 block of Brown Avenue between 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, and 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, police reported.

Someone sprayed black paint onto a 2005 Toyota parked in the 600 block of Mulford Street between 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, according to police.

Graffiti Appears at Gas Station

Graffiti appeared on a gas station in the 500 block of Howard Street at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, police reported.
