Evanston Police Investigate Death at Sherman Plaza

Police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man after someone reported that he had jumped from the public parking garage at Davis Street and Benson Avenue.

Evanston police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man who apparently jumped from the Sherman Plaza Parking garage downtown Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to a call that someone had jumped from the public garage at Davis Street and Benson Avenue around 4:20 p.m., according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott. The man was transported to Evanston Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident is being investigated as a suicide, Parrott said, and no further information is being released about the man until his family is notified.
