Evanston Police Officer Saves Boy From Icy Des Plaines River

The boy jumped into the river and was in good condition when an ambulance later took him to Lutheran General Hospital, Chicago Sun-Times reports.

An off-duty Evanston police officer saved a 7-year-old boy who had jumped into the Des Plaines River Tuesday afternoon, Chicago Sun-Times reported. 

Evanston Police Officer Sean O’Brien told Chicago Sun-Times that he saw the boy running around the intersection of River Road and Miner Street in Des Plaines and later saw him jump into the Des Plaines River after hurling a chunk of snow in the water.
